Biography

Dr. Marieke Hollestelle is an Assistant Professor of Medical Ethics at the subdepartment of Bioethics and Health Humanities at the Julius Center for Health Sciences and Primary Care of the UMC Utrecht. She has a background in political science and practical ethics. Marieke’s PhD research focused on the ethics of a Learning Healthcare System for pregnant and lactating people, contributing to the Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI) ConcePTION project. Currently, Marieke is involved in the ONCODE accelerator project, studying the ethical considerations surrounding early phase adaptive trial designs in oncology research. 

Next to her research, Marieke teaches many different classes related to medical humanities, ethics of data science, moral case deliberation, and research ethics, and she is the coordinator for the Medical Humanities course within the premasters program Klinische Gezondheidswetenschappen (clinical health sciences).
