dr. M.J.J. (Marie-José) Mangen Assistant Professor

Marie-Josée J. Mangen is an economist with special interest in public health, infectious diseases and food safety. She holds an MSc in animal science from the University of Bonn, Germany, and in Agricultural Economics and Marketing from Wageningen University, the Netherlands. She obtained her PhD at Wageningen University, the Netherlands in 2002. She then moved for a short-term project to the Livestock Information and Policy Branch at the Food and Agricultural Organization in Rome, Italy. From 2003 to 2004 she held a post-doc at the Agricultural Economic Research Institute and at the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) in the Netherlands where she participated as an economist on the CARMA (CAmpylobacter Risk Management and Assessment) project. She then worked at RIVM on various economic evaluations in the field of public health and infectious diseases. Since June 2008 she has an appointment as assistant professor at the University Medical Centre Utrecht, Julius Center for Health Science and Primary Care within the Health Technology Assessment group.
