Uveitis is een intraoculaire ontsteking. In ongeveer 25% van de gevallen wordt de ontsteking veroorzaakt door een infectie. Diagnostiek naar intraoculaire infecties gebeurt door middel van PCR analyse en het vaststellen van intaoculaire antistofproductie middels de Goldmann-Witmer coëfficiënt. Bij vermoeden op resistentie tegen antivirale medicatie in het geval van CMV, HSV of VZV wordt geadviseerd genotypische resistentieanalyse aan te vragen.

Uveitis is an intraocular inflammation. In some cases the cause is of infectious origin. Diagnostics for these infections is performed on intraocular fluids by use of PCR and by determining the Goldmann-Witmer coefficient (GWC) for intraocular antibody production. If for CMV, HSV or VZV resistance against antiviral medication is suspected genotypic antiviral resistance analysis is adviced.
