Esophageal cancer

Esophageal cancer

Esophageal carcinoma still is one of the most lethal tumors with average 5-year survival rates not exceeding 25%. The burden of the local disease is high with swallowing complaints, pain and bleeding. Locoregional recurrence rates are high and most relapses occur within the radiotherapy field. Therefore an increased dose to the primary tumor is required to improve local control and quality of life.
