Innovative solutions for patient needs
In the UMC Utrecht research is concentrated in six multidisciplinary programs with each a limited number of disease targets. Patient care is integrated in these programs. Interaction with patients and society creates an ‘innovation loop’ where societal issues guide scientific research and where scientific results quickly move from bench to bedside. We changed our incentive and reward system to better align it with our mission of connecting with patients and creating societal impact.

UMC Utrecht is one of the top-ranked academic medical centers in Europe and offers interesting career opportunities. Patient care and biomedical research are closely linked. Partners, for example the Hubrecht Institute, can be found at close distance of UMC Utrecht. Collaboration with the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Faculty of Science of Utrecht University shows the relationship between animal and human health and the environment. UMC Utrecht has been awarded international accreditation on quality of care, research and education by the Joint Commission International (JCI).
UMC Utrecht offers a wide range of PhD programs.
The COMBACTE consortium announces the addition of COMBACTE-CDI as a new project. The project aims to develop a detailed understanding of the epidemiology and clinical impact of Clostridium difficile infection across Europe.
